Error when transferring music to PC Music Library or a player

If you have difficulty transferring music files that you were able to successfully transfer previously, or if there is an error while you attempt to transfer new tracks to the PC Music Library, it is likely that the PC Music Library is corrupt. You will need to rebuild the PC Music Library.

You may also need to rebuild the PC Music Library if you have uninstalled and reinstalled Creative MediaSource.

Please follow the steps below to remove the PC Music Library files from your computer.

  1. Close all Creative applications such as Creative MediaSource, Creative Sync Manager, etc.
  2. Ensure that Windows is set to show hidden files and folders.
    • Open My Computer.
    • Click Tools, Folder Options.
    • Click the View tab.
    • Under Hidden files and folders, select Show hidden files and folders.
    • Uncheck Hide extensions for known file types.
    • Uncheck Hide protected operating system files (Recommended).
  3. Click Start, Run and type %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Creative\Media Database then press OK.
  4. Click Edit then Select All.
  5. Once all the files within this folder are selected, press Delete on your keyboard.

To import music tracks to the PC Music Library, click on the PC Music Library tab under Source tab, and then click on the Import button.
